In French, the children focus on developing correct pronunciation and intonation and build their vocabulary.

They learn basic greetings and questions so that they can begin to hold simple conversations. They learn key vocabulary associated with different subject areas and begin to read and write simple sentences in French. The aim is to lay the foundations for successful language study at secondary school. Typically, each class will do around 30 minutes of French per week.
